Resisting The Narcissist’s Love Bombing

Resisting The Narcissist’s Love Bombing

Resisting –

Once the Love Bombing Phase

hooks us with its unwavering bliss,

it becomes nearly impossible to resist

our pursuit of the phantom

‪which belongs to a Narcissist. ‬

Those most prone to becoming addicted to the Narcissist’s Love Bombing Phase are those who had neglectful, or abusive childhoods.

We are desperate for that unconditional love from a parent we missed out on while growing up.

This pain keeps us forever in search of filling a tremendous void. The only way we can fill this gaping emptiness is through an intimate relationship with God.

We needed Mom and/or Dad’s unlimited, unequalled love, which only they (or other caregivers), could have provided in our early years, but failed to do so (perhaps because of their own abusive childhoods; mental health issues, substances abuse, ETC.,).

A potential life partner cannot supply all the emotional necessities that we failed to experience as children. It is expecting too much for another human being to re-parent. A normal relationship is hard enough without asking for the unattainable.

The powerful illusion of love that comes storming into our existence, through the Narcissist’s Love Bombing Phase, sweeps us off our rear-ends in its intensity.

This magical-like fantasy of perfect love we have searched for all our lives feels within reach. It’s intoxicating!

The Love Bombing Phase is anything but normal. A mechanically  engineered love-like substance comes via the Narcissist mirroring our likes, dislikes, moods, interests, passions, desires and needs. It becomes the great escape from our overwhelming need of the significant parental love and attention we never received.

The following of the textbook Devaluation and Discard Phases are devastating, and the Hoovering Phase hard to resist, of which the Narcissist is well aware.

Complications arise in resisting the Love Bombing Phase for those of us with unhealed childhood wounds. But two remedies exist and have quenched my addiction to (fraudulent) love:

1). Falling into Jesus’ Love and accepting Him through trust, as my everything. When I cannot combat the Narcissist’s Love Bombing, it is not because The Lord is not enough; rather, I have taken my eyes off Him.

2). Giving myself the unconditional love and acceptance that I never received in childhood which entails forgiving myself of my past wrongs, bad choices, and terrible decisions. Would I not do the same for my very own children?

.

2 Corinthians 6:18

And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
