Spiritual Abuse From Narcissists

Spiritual Abuse From Narcissists

Below are a few of the many countless signs and actions of Spiritual Abuse from Narcissists:

1). Taking Bible verses out of context to meet the Abuser’s own agenda;

2). Speaking for God (but the fraudster’s words do not correlate with the words or meaning in The Bible);

3). Punishing the victim for having immoral thoughts or actions; (claiming that God told the Abuser to punish Christians in such ways);

4). Encouraging the worship of others beside God, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit;

5). Deep confusion (God brings clarity);

6). Secret Meetings, groups, or gatherings (God’s Way is visible to all seekers);

7). Narcissist’s godly words not synchronized with his/her behavior

Though Spiritual Abuse can take on many forms, all manners are to yield power and control over the victim, using the specific form of spirituality that the victim holds dear to their heart, as the Narcissist’s weapon.

Spiritual Abuse From Narcissists

I have had three different Narcissists tell me that God was speaking “through them”. One of them acted like he was going into a trancelike state when it happened. His words did not match those in The Bible.

Another Narcissist told me he had a message to give me from God, and a day later, he decided the same message he had for me was from the devil.

A Sociopath told me God put here him on earth to “save the world”, and I told him that “only Jesus Christ can save the world”.

None of these abusers long-term actions matched the behavior of a Christian-like character.

Spiritual Abuse is a dark, age-old art; but never does a victim get used to such harm.

.

(Matthew 23:4)

“They crush you with impossible religious demands and never lift a finger to help ease the burden“.

  1. Apologies for going more than a bit off-topic, but your entry does bring to mind something Simon Schama once said of Oliver Cromwell –

    “He believed he was speaking for God, which is different from those who believed they were God. Quite a difference, actually.”

    Still, as you point out, Tamara, when one invokes the Almighty, best to be cautious at first. Quite often, it all adds up, but sometimes it doesn’t.

      Thank you, Keith, for your comment. I should add my above comment to my post to use as three examples.

  2. Discernment is key, but sadly, many people are led astray by deceptive, narcissistic abusers.
    These folks tend not to serve God, but use His Holy name and misuse His Holy Word for their unholy agenda.
